My Tamil friends, please support the kerala stand over Mullaperiyar, its for you

My beloved brothers and sisters of Tamail Nadu,

You are aware of the stagnant condition between Kerala and Tamil Nadu (TN) over Mullaperiyar dam. Now the people of Kerala are agitating for the reconstruction of the obsolete dam thereby defusing the “water bomb”.

Now it is your turn to SUPPORT the agitation.

You may be wondering why I ask your support. Please read below:

1. The dam is situated in a seismic zone therefore the ageing dam may not survive a strong seismic activity (earth quake above the magintude of 5 in the ritcher scale). Eventually, lives of 3.5 million innocent people are in danger.

2. Six million people of Theni, Madurai, Dindigul, Sivaganga, and, Ramanathapuram will be affected due to drinking water scarcity. It is even feared that thousands of Tamilians may die due to the scarcity of drinking water.

3. Agriculture in 230000 acres of fertile agriculture land of Theni, Madurai, Dindigul, Sivaganga, and, Ramanathapuram will be affected due to the lack of irrigation.

4. The electricity supply to those, above said, districts will be fully or partially disrupted.

5. The reasons #3 and #4 would cause a financial crisis in southern Tamil Nadu (henceforth TN).

6. The Government of Kerala has repeatedly stated its agreement to share water with TN.

Let me elaborate on the above points

The Mullaperiyar region is in a seismic zone which comprises the larger area of Idukki and some parts of Kottayam districts of Kerala. As you are a keen observer of the issue you should be well aware about the catastrophe due to an earthquake of a magnitude more than 5 on the ritcher scale

If Mullaperiyar dam is destroyed, the water in its reservoir will flow in to the Idukki dam. There are weak chances that the Idukki dam can stop the flow of Mullaperiyar water, If not? Idukki dam too will burst, which will lead to the water to rush down the hills and take away the lives of 3.5 million people. Ironically, the first person who dies can be a Tamil because the Mullaperiyar, Devikulam region has considerably large population of Tamils.

Do you want to risk the life of 3.5 million people for just 600 crores of Rupees? Yes, just 600 Cr. Please believe the words of the Kerala finance minister, KM Mani. He said the reconstruction can be completed with 600 Cr. Rupees.

May be, it may fetch up to 12000 Cr.!

Six million innocent Tamils of Theni, Madurai, Thindigal, Sivaganga, and, Ramanadhapuram will be affected due to drinking water scarcity. It is feared that hundreds of thousands of Tamils may die due to the scarcity of drinking water. If the dam bursts, then no body is going to reconstruct it for you because nobody will be alive! If you allow Kerala to reconstruct the dam, then advantage is yours. You can have enough drinking as well as irrigation water.

Now, you are irrigating 230000 acres of land with the Mullaperiyar water. It helps you to generate more than Rs.400000000000 a year and it is the economic back bone of southern Tamil Nadu. If you fail to acknowledge the real concern of Kerala, you are going to lose it permanently. You are loosing it for just Rs 600 cr.

As you are aware, there are many power projects running based on the Mullaperiyar water, for eg. Vaigai project?

Your political leaders especially, Vaiko is misleading you. I have full respect to the compassion shown by Vaiko towards the 2.5 million Srilankan Tamils. Now, I am wondering why he can not show the same compassion towards 3.5 million Keralites.

Now it is your turn to decide. 6000000Tamils+3500000 Malayalees =9500000 lifves depends on the decision of you and your leaders.

Kisan Baburao Hazare, you are weakening the democracy!!!

Anna Hazare, I, as an Indian citizen, do agree, accept, support and appreciate your idea to create a stringent Lokpal bill.  I agreed, accepted, supported and appreciated your  'civil disobedience' until the government  introduced the bill in the parliament. I do not accept or support your adamant attitude of defining the bill in your own way because it is now in the parliament for the consideration of the original ‘representatives of the civil society’. First of all I want to make it clear for why I do not support your present activities.

1)      You are not the real representative of the civil society.
2)      It is  unconstitutional (at least as per my knowledge) of demanding changes in a bill that is under consideration of the parliament.
3)      You are questioning the basics of parliamentary democracy.
4)      You are demanding a stringent law but violating the law.
5)      You are questioning the sovereignty of the parliament to legislate.
6)      Including prime minister will lead anarchy.
7)      Above all, you just want name and fame.

Anna Hazare, you are not the real representative of the civil society.

You may be wondering why I  tell that you are not the real representative of the civil society. Here my question is ‘who elected you as the representative of civil society?’ All of a sudden, you have staged a ‘Satyagraha’ in the national capital, you and your 'so-called' team discussed amongst yourselves and decided yourself as the civil society representative and started holding discussion with the government. At least you should have conducted a national wide referendum, in that (referendum) you could have proposed a panel. You did not do that.

So, you are only the ‘self proclaimed representatives of the civil society’. The real civil society representatives are the MP’s of Lok Sabha.

Now the bill is under their consideration.

If you want to be the real representative of the civil society, you should have contested and won from a lok sabha constituency.

Anna Hazare, it is not fair of asking changes of a bill that is under consideration of the parliament

It is not at all fair in asking amendments on a bill that is under consideration of parliament. You are destabilizing the parliamentary democracy.

Do you think all the parliamentarians are idiots, corrupt and criminals? Do you doubt their ability to formulate an effective lokpal? Then it is OUR/ fault. You and I are responsible for this situation because we are the voters. We should not have elected them. In this situation, you and I need to fight against ourselves. Not against the democracy.
I think you do not have any doubt that the best social order in the world today is democracy and at the heart of  democracy is the Parliament and people like me and you are the blood and vein. When you are asking for a change in the proposed bill, that is now the property of parliament, you are indirectly showing your quest of being a super power. You are knowingly or unknowingly trying to demolish the democracy.

I am not against your right to protest as well as lead a mass agitation for a cause. What I want to tell you is, you have already achieved the goal of the mass agitation.

You may be motivated by the overwhelming support form the people of India. That is actually annoying me. Nazism and Fascism also got such support from the people at the beginning.

Anna Hazare, You are demanding a stringent law but violating the law

The congress party has raised questions against your credibility. I just ignore those allegations because I am sure that you are a true Gandhian you can not be a corrupt. It is the stupid culture of congress. But, Hazare, I have some doubts.

1.      Why do you want to violate the law enforced by the police in the capital?
2.      Why are you so adamant that you will stage the Satyagraha only in national capital?
3.      Why can’t you stage your protest in ‘Ralegan Siddhi’ or even in ‘Bhingar’. These places are also part of India. Gandhiji started Salt Satyagraha not in the national capital. Dandi is a small village but it redefined the nation’s fate.

Anna Hazare, including PM under lokpal will lead to anarchy

Inclusion of the Indian prime minister in the Lokpal will lead to frequent elections in India. The best way to throw out a government from office will be not ‘No confidence motion’ but to JUST shoot some allegations against the prime minister. In the wake of morality, the Prime minister will resign thereby the government will dissolve. So, I support the government’s stand over the exclusion of PM. However, the former PMs should come under Lokpal whereas the incumbent prime minister should not come under Lokpal.

Anna Hazare, you just want name and fame. Nothing else

Anna Hazare, you just want name and fame, nothing else. That is why you are doing all these activities. And I really doubt that whether you are puppet of external  interests.
Unfortunately, we do not have a strong government.

Note: I am not against Anna Hazare or Jan Lokpal. My concern is only about democracy.
